The Communist Party Unit of the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau has asked the state-owned Agribank to dismiss a vice director of its branch there for using a fake diploma and degree.

Nguyen Ngoc Khai, who is also the acting director of the Agribank branch in Ba Ria Vung Tau, was expelled from the Party unit as part of the same decision Friday.

The provincial Party Unit committee said Khai, 52, used a fake high school diploma, a fake college degree and a fake English certificate as credentials for his job.

Khai has denied any wrongdoing, according to the committee.

Provincial agencies had previously concluded that while at helm of another Agribank branch in Xuyen Moc District, the official, who hailed from the northern province of Hai Duong, asked someone in Ho Chi Minh City to help get him a fake degree in politics.

While the degree stated that he completed a course at the Academy of Politics and Publics Administration Region II in 2001-2002, the academy said the degree number claimed by Khai belonged to someone else.

Khai was also found to have never taken the English exam last year, as well as the high school graduation exams in 1976 when he was a student in Hai Duong as stated in his diploma and certificate, according to the committee.
