Australian road safety advisor ARRB Group has donated 886 helmets and road safety materials to children and teachers at Ai Quoc Primary School in Hai Duong Province.
This was the second year ARRB Group helmet donation for Hai Duong children under the Helmets for Kids program launched by the Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation.
This year, 240 helmets were donated to the school’s first graders, new teachers, and students who had outgrown, lost, or damaged their helmets.
Paul Hillier, a national technical leader at ARRB, said that Ai Quoc Primary School is situated along National Road 5 and near a railroad corridor which creates a very hazardous situation for students.
According to the school principal Nguyen Thi Quyen Oanh, the number of students wearing helmets has increased from 77 percent in November of 2013 to 97 percent as of May of this year.
