Loreto Vietnam Australia Program gave gifts to 2,000 underprivileged children at a ceremony held at Ho Chi Minh City's Nguyen Dinh Chieu School for the Blind on Wednesday.
The gifts were sent from Hong Kong through LVAP.
Donated by school children in Hong Kong and sent in decorated shoe boxes, each box contained around 10 gifts, all new and typically a soft toy, a book, coloring items and stationery, a hair accessory, a toy, and others.
They were collected by Box of Hope, a Hong Kong-based charity organization that provides underprivileged children throughout Asia with boxes of gifts at Christmas time.
The children were from Nguyen Dinh Chieu School and 31 other schools in Ho Chi Minh City and the neighboring provinces of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and An Giang.
On behalf of the children, Vo Minh Nhut, a 10th grader at Nguyen Dinh Chieu, said: "I'm very pleased by the kindness shown by the Loreto Program and the donors. We thank you for all the gifts you give us."
Box of Hope has been working with the Loreto Program for the last two years since the Vietnamese-Australian INGO supports underprivileged children.
