Australia has funded two small-scale community projects in the central provinces of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan with approximately VND350 million (US$18,300), the Australian Consulate General said Thursday.
The projects will build classrooms, purchase educational and medical equipment and physical rehabilitation tools to assist low income communities. The funding is provided by the Consulate-General through the Direct Aid Program a grants program for development activities.
"We are very pleased to support the long-standing work of provincial People's Committees, non-government organizations, community organizations, as well as local hospitals and schools in assisting low income and disadvantaged communities," said Consul-General Graeme Swift.
"DAP is an impressive example of the cooperation that can develop from the strong people-to-people links that exist between Vietnam and Australia," he added.
