Around 20 young men brought swords and home-made guns to attack guests at a Hanoi hotel early Tuesday.
The men broke into Bach Duong hotel at 1:30 a.m. They went straight into a room, shooting the ceiling and beating the guests there.
Police said the room had been rented by Nguyen Viet Dung from November 11. They did not reveal the names of other guests, who were bleeding after the attack as blood was found in the room, news website VietNamNet reported.
Dung had brought three more men to the room on the night of Monday, November 21, police said. The 36-year-old had left with the three men after the attack.
Police are investigating.
Earlier on November 19, pawn shop owner Tran Tuan Hung in the northern province of Son La was shot in his thigh by a man who was with an acquaintance, Pham Anh Tuan.
Tuan and the man asked to borrow money from the pawn shop owner, and he refused.
