A worker died at a Taiwanese-invested economic zone in central Vietnam on Saturday, one month after a catastrophic scaffold collapse here killed 13 workers and injured 26 others.
The victim was Tran Huu Dung, 26, who apparently fell off a scaffold at Posco 2 Company's construction site in Vung Ang Economic Zone.
Vung Ang is a large complex invested by Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Group with an investment of nearly $10 billion. Construction of the zone began in 2008.
Local officials said the incident happened in the afternoon of Saturday and the victim died on the spot.
Major Nguyen Phi Hai of Ha Tinh Police said relevant authorities have performed an autopsy.
“Initially after the accident, Posco 2 attempted to conceal the case by not reporting to relevant agencies, but they failed to hide it,” he said.
Earlier on March 25, a scaffold collapse killed 13 workers and injuring 26 others at the construction site of Hung Nghiep Formosa Steel Co.
