A group of ninth graders at a school in southern Vietnam have allegedly beaten a former student to death after he snuck into the school and attempted to attack a schoolboy.
Police are investigating the death of Le Hoang Thang, 18, of Dong Nai Province.
On April 27, Thang allegedly managed to sneak into Thong Nhat Junior High School through the back door in an attempt to find a ninth grader, identified only as Q, to solve some personal conflict.
He wore the school uniform to avoid detection.
Failing to find Q, he went to the canteen where he had an argument with another ninth grader, identified as L.
After being kicked by L, Thang attempted to beat him with a glass bottle but a security guard stopped him and forced him to leave.
After Thang left, a group of students followed and beat him unconscious. It was unclear if L was among the students.
Being informed about the incident, the school guard took him to the school’s medical room for first aid before transferring him to the Dong Nai General Hospital.
Doctors diagnosed Thang with brain injuries and conducted an emergency surgery.
He died on Wednesday.
Initial investigation found that there were eight students involved in the fatal attack.
