Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested 13 people who were suspected of forging more than 500 fake certificates for sale at VND5-9 million ($231-417) each.
Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Le Ngoc Phuong of the city police said Wednesday that nine suspects are in police custody for the investigation.
The ring, allegedly led by Chu Ngoc Trung, 31, started operating last February and advertised their service online using social media and e-commerce websites.
Customers would place orders with Trung and provide him with their information.
During the arrests, police confiscated many fake doctorate and master degrees along with forged seals in the suspects’ houses.
Investigation is going on.
Early this week the health department in the central province of Thanh Hoa announced that they had fired 20 local health workers using fake medical degrees.
The department requested local police to look into the finding.
