The tigers, weighing 90 kilograms and 40 kilograms each, were first transported from southern Vietnam to Thanh Hoa before being driven by taxi to Hanoi for sale, police said.
Taxi driver Dinh Thanh Huyen and three other men who allegedly owned the animals were arrested for further investigations, investigators said.
Police said the case was likely part of a larger tiger trafficking ring.
Tigers are disappearing from their natural habitat in Vietnam, with less than 50 tigers living naturally within the country’s borders. Tiger skin, teeth, meat and bones fetch high prices on the black market here.
