Quang Ninh border guards have returned nine children to their families after finding them walking across the border from China, following an alleged escape from human traffickers.
Earlier on March 13, they found the H’mong children, including two girls, without any identity papers walking across the border.
The children, aged from 13-15, were later identified to be from the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang.
The children said a Chinese man came to their houses on March 2 and offered to find them jobs in China for 100 yuan (US$15) a day.
After they arrived in China, they realized that they were being trafficked by the man and his accomplices. They managed to run away.
The border guards have handed over the case to the police.
