Police in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang say they are still searching for two men who allegedly raped an 88-year-old woman living alone in a hut.
Huynh Thi B. was reportedly resting in her small hut in Giong Rieng District when two men, likely in their 30s, rushed in at around 9 p.m. last Saturday.
One man put his hand over her mouth to shut her up, while the other started to take off her clothes.
B. was trying to shout for help but the men threatened to kill her.
She said they took turn to rape her.
After the men left, B. called for help and was rushed to a hospital.
She suffered from vaginal bleeding and required immediate treatment. Doctors said she could have been dead if she was not brought to the hospital in time.
Last June, an 82-year-old woman also in Kien Giang's Giong Rieng District was raped and murdered.
The perpetrator was arrested soon afterwards.
