Police in the central city of Da Nang Wednesday said they have placed eight people under investigation for "causing public disorder," following two teenagers' failure to escape from traffic policemen who had asked them to pull over.

On June 14 night, at around 9 p.m., traffic police caught Vo Duy Quang, 18 and Phan Duy Linh, 19, riding in the wrong direction on a one-way street without wearing helmets.

The duo was asked to pull over, but they ignored the order and fled the scene, prompting the cops to chase them.

On their way, they fell down on another street and Linh was slightly injured, according to witnesses .

The teens were then asked to proceed to the police station, but Linh and Quang refused.

Instead, they called up six other young people aged between 18-24, including two women, to the site. Together, the eight people created a ruckus, laid down on the street and claimed that the police had assaulted them.

The incident drew hundreds of locals and it was not sorted out until midnight.

Police are investigating the case further.
