Rescuers in Khanh Hoa Province are searching for a missing passenger on a bus that was swept away in heavy floods late last night, after locals and rescuers managed to save eight others.
The 16-seater vehicle could not withstand the strong waters when it was traveling across a flooded bridge in Vinh Khanh District with nine people on Wednesday night.
Heavy floods reportedly swept the vehicle to the river bank at around 8:10 p.m. authorities said.
Phan Cu, the 49-year-old missing passenger, reportedly opened the door to flee the dangerous scene. He was swept away immediately.
Others on the bus closed the door and shouted for help. They were saved soon later by locals and rescuers.
At around 2 a.m. on Thursday the bus was pulled up.
