7 killed, 3 injured as car crashes into noodle shop in central Vietnam

Seven people were killed on the spot and three others seriously injured when a car crashed into a restaurant in the central province of Quang Nam early Saturday morning, Tuoi Tre reported.

The newspaper cited police as saying Tran Xuan Dang, 34, fell asleep while driving the car carrying two others on the National Road 1A's section in Nui Thanh Town.

He lost control and hit an electrical post on the roadside before crashing to the noodle shop which was some five meters away.

Seven customers who were having breakfast at the shop were killed on the spot, while three others including the shop's owner Tran Thi Nga, 45, were rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.

According to Tuoi Tre, three of the dead were children between nine and 12 years old.

Meanwhile, all the three people in the car survived the accident without injuries, it said.

Police are investigating the accident.
