Binh Duong police on Friday seized two motorcycles and fined six men for organizing and filming an illegal race they later uploaded onto Facebook.
According to police in the province’s Bac Tan Uyen District, the men, aged between 19 and 27, were collectively fined over VND46 million (US$2,152).
Three of the men had gathered on Provincial Road 746 on November 26 to race, while the other three filmed it and uploaded the footage to Facebook.
After the footage went viral, police began to investigate.
In related news that also unfolded on November 26, Lam Dong police fined more than 100 people for organizing an illegal race on the Lien Khuong-Prenn Expressway in Da Lat.
Police arrested 42 people and seized 17 motorbikes after blocking the expressway's entrances and exits.
The rest of the suspects were tracked down later.
Those involved included three drug users.
The racers, aged 17 to 29, confessed that they had set up the race through Facebook.
