Police in Hanoi have arrested six people involved in a service that used fake diplomas and language certificates to help applicants for skilled immigration enter Canada.
Investigation found Ngo Thao Hoa, director of the company providing the service, collected VND1.5 billion (US$68,000) from 18 people two years ago.
But after they had waited for so long without any results, they asked for their money but Hoa refused to return it.
Hoa told police that all the applications failed because the Canadian immigration office found out that the certificates had been forged.
He said he bought the fake diplomas and certificates for VND300,000 each from Ngo Li Ly, who was among the arrestees.
Police searched Ly's house and suspected Ly and some others had printed a large number of fake university degrees.
Police are investigating further.
