Thai police have arrested four men and one woman, all Vietnamese nationals, for allegedly stealing 4,000 baht (US$110.6) in cash from local tourist shops, news website The Nation reported on Sunday.
They are now hunting for another suspect also Vietnamese, it quoted police in the northern province of Chiang Mai as saying.
Police said the gang was busted after attacking two shops in the province's tourist areas on December 31, thanks to their alleged victims' descriptions.
They first spotted the suspects in a local market, and attempted to stop them but all except one managed to escape. From the arrested man's tip-off, police apprehended another four at their hotel, the website reported.
Police also confiscated 3,530 baht and nine cell phones from the suspects, it said.
