Police in Thailand have arrested five Vietnamese nationals for allegedly stealing brand-name clothes worth hundreds of thousands of baht, or thousands of dollars, Thai news website The Nation reported on Tuesday.
It quoted local police as saying that the suspects – three women and two men aged between 24 and 39 – were arrested with 64 items and two tinfoil-lined bags in Chiang Mai City.
They reportedly confessed to stealing the clothes at two shopping malls, saying that they planned to sell them in Vietnam at cheaper prices, according to the website.
Police said they apparently used the bags, also known as booster bags, to deceive the shops’ barcode detectors.
