Vietnamese rescue workers said five of the six fishers going missing after their boat sank in Malaysian waters on Saturday have been saved.
The search for Huynh Tan Dat, the 43-year-old captain of the fishing boat is ongoing, according to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center.
The fishing boat from the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang reportedly sank at 2 p.m. on Saturday in waters some 150 nautical miles southwest of Ca Mau, the southern tip of Vietnam.
One of the six crew members was immediately saved by a nearby fishing boat.
Four more were saved the following morning by Vietnamese rescued workers.
According to Vietnamese authorities, the boat sank after its gas cylinder exploded.
