Five people died in a devastating fire at a four-story karaoke parlor in Hanoi’s Giang Vo St. this noon.
Witnesses said the blaze apparently started on the first floor.
The VnExpress news website quote unnamed sources as saying that there was only staff and no customer in the parlor when the fire broke out.
Two of the staff in the building managed to escape by climbing to neighbors’ roofs.
Five fire engines and dozens of firefighters rushed to the scene, but it took them more than an hour to put out the fire.
As of 4.30 p.m. they have recovered five bodies from the charred building.
Firefighters said they are still searching “room after room” for any more victim.
