Police in Penang in the northwest of Malaysia have detained four Vietnamese suspected of breaking into local shops to steal money and various items, according to a Bernama report.
Local media reported that the men, aged between 24 and 28, were arrested during a raid at around 4 a.m. on Sunday.
The police have found 34 packets of coins worth a total of US$156 believed to have been stolen by the men, as well as cigarettes and mobile phones.
Bernama cited a police officer as saying that one of the suspects had past criminal records and had previously been detained and deported to Vietnam.
It is unknown how and when he returned to Malaysia.
The officer said the four belonged to a group related to six burglary cases reported in the area since December.
