Four members of a family, including two children, died in a fire that broke out in their house early morning Monday in the southern city of Bien Hoa.
At around 2:30 a.m. neighbours heard an explosion and saw a blaze consuming the house of Doan Thi Lien, 59. The building also housed a home appliances repair shop.
Tran Trong Hung, Lien’s son, carried his one-year-old daughter Tran Ngoc Phuong Hy, climbed up the roof and managed to reach a neighbor’s house.
Locals called the police and fire department.
An hour after it started the blaze was extinguished, but Lien, her daughter-in-law Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, 27, Hoa’s four-year-old daughter Tran Long Phuong Ha, and Lien’s five-year-old grandson Vo Ca, who recently came from abroad to visit her, were stuck inside and died.
The house was destroyed.
There had been some mini gas tanks inside.
Authorities are still investigating.
