At least four people were killed and seven others were injured in flash floods in Lao Cai Province due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Nida.
Nguyen Anh Tuan, director of the Lao Cai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the province had incessant rains in the last four days, with Bat Xat District the worst hit.
In that district, flash floods in the Phin Ngan Stream washed away a suspension bridge and isolated a village with 16 households, he said.
Hundreds of families in nearby districts have been evacuated to safety while blackouts have been reported in several places.

Sections of National Highway 4D connecting Lao Cai town and Bat Xat and many other roads have been inundated.
Heavy rain continued in Lao Cai Friday morning, including 152mm in Bat Xat, 63mm in Lao Cai and 60mm in Sa Pa.
Rescuers are on search missions.
