Four coffee growers were killed and four others remain in critical condition after their car suddenly plunged into an abyss in Lam Dong Province on Saturday evening.
The old Russian off-road vehicle was carrying eight people, including the driver Truong Xuan Sinh, on its way back from a coffee plantation when its brakes failed and the car flew off the road.
The UAZ car plunged into a gorge in Lac Duong district, killing Sinh and three of his employees.
Sinh's four surviving workers were sent to the province's general hospital where they remain in an intensive care unit, police said.
Pham Trieu, a Lac Duong District official, visited and offered some support to the ill-fated victims’ family.
An investigation into the case is ongoing.
