4 dead, 17 injured in Vietnam bus accident

Four people, including two children, were dead and 17 others injured after a bus overturned on a national highway in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak Thursday.

 

The accident happened at around 7 p.m. when the bus carrying 30 passengers turned on its side on National Highway 14 in Ea D'rang Town, Ea H'leo District.

 

Two woman, a baby girl and a baby boy died on the spot.

 

The decreased were identified as Bui Thi Loan, 28, Luu Thi Thanh, 22, Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, 3, and Tran Ly Hai Bang, 2, all from Gia Lai Province.

 

Seventeen passengers were injured; four of them seriously.

 

Initial investigations showed that bus driver Tran Van Hai, 33, lost control of the vehicle due to a slippery road caused by heavy rains.

Hai sustained minor injuries.

 

Police are investigating the incident.
