4 Chinese get jail terms for credit card fraud in Vietnam

Four Chinese nationals were sentenced Tuesday to jail terms by a court in Vietnam's Hai Phong City for making and using fake credit cards to withdraw around VND4 billion (US$188,800) from Vietnamese banks.
Lin Wei, 50, Xiong Jie, 35, Lin Li Hua, 33, and Lin Jia Jun, 21, were charged with “misappropriating property.”
They got 14 years, 17 years, 14 years and 12 years, respectively.
According to the indictment, between February and March last year, the four Chinese men, together with two other Chinese nationals who are still at large, conducted 196 transactions using fake cards to withdraw around VND4 billion from branches of Vietcombank and Vietinbank in Hai Phong.
They were caught by Hai Phong police on March 26, 2013.
Police said they seized around VND1 billion in the arrests.
