Binh Dinh police have arrested four men accused of shooting two dog theft suspects and killing one of them in the central province last week.
The arrestees are Le Huyen Nhu, Vo Kim Son, Dang Trung, all 24, and Huynh Van Can, 30.
The men confessed that they were on their way home from a bird hunting trip on the early morning of December 18. When their car was in An Nhon Town, they saw two men on a motorbike with a dog snare.
The group shouted “dog thieves” and started arguing with the duo, Nguyen Chi Hoa, 21, and Nguyen Hoai Nam, 22.
Soon later Can shot the duo with an air gun. Hoa was killed on the spot while Nam was seriously injured.
The group quickly fled the scene while local residents took Nam to a local hospital. He is still in critical condition.
The following day, after learning that Hoa was dead, Nhu drove his car to Hanoi. Son and Can fled to Ho Chi Minh City while Trung stayed at home.
Police did not say how they managed to track down the four men.
Dog thefts are not rare in Vietnam as dog meat is consumed by a number of Vietnamese.
