Three teen boys drowned at a local beach in south central Vietnam Friday.
Eyewitnesses said they saw four students wearing the uniforms of a local secondary school in Phu Yen Province enter the sea at around 5 p.m. Three of them did not return safely to shore.
It took rescuers ten minutes to find the first victim, who was 15 years old, while another casualty, 13, was found an hour later.
They were still looking for the third victim as of 9 p.m. that evening.
Reports of child drownings have been frequent so far this year, including at least 11 teenagers in central Vietnam in February and five others in southern Vietnam in January, when three adults including two police officers were also fatal victims.
