Locals in central Vietnam managed to rescue four out of a seven-member tourist group that was swept away by flash floods at a popular waterfall Sunday.
Nguyen Van Chan Chinh of the Ninh Thuan province People’s Committee, his wife Nguyen Thi Truong Sa, and Pham Hong Thai, 8, were bathing at Sakai fall in Ninh Thuan with the others when they were all swept away at around 5:30 p.m.
Thai was the son of Chinh’s friend Pham Trong Hung.
Hung is the deputy chief of the province's Department of Transport.
