Lam Dong police have arrested three rangers for investigation into the poaching of 139 trees in a local forest from January-April this year.
Nguyen Tien Anh, Nguyen Tien Huong, and Nguyen Huu Dung of Tam Hiep Forestry Company will be held for three months for investigation, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported.
They face charges of violating regulations on forest protection and being irresponsible leading to serious consequences, the paper quoted Truong Quang Lan, the prosecutor of the case, as saying.
From January to April, illegal loggers stole 139 Dipterocarpus trees, valuing about VND700 million (US$32,200), from a forest that the three rangers were guarding.
