Rescuers Tuesday found the bodies of three people who had drowned when a boat capsized in a river in the central province of Quang Binh the previous day, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The victims were identified as Tran Van Ty, 27, Nguyen Thi Phuong, 25, and Vu Thi Loi.
On Christmas Eve, a 10-meter boat carrying nine passengers capsized in the middle of the Gianh River.
Two people managed to swim ashore while other four people were rescued by locals.
Fifty police officers arrived and searched for the remaining three through the night.
Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper quoted Nguyen Tien Phuc, deputy secretary of the local ward, as saying the small boat could not cope with high waves and overturned.
Three years ago a boat accident killed 42 people in the province. It had a capacity of 12 passengers, but was reportedly carrying 80 people when the tragedy occurred.
