3 dead as house collapses in northern Vietnam

A five-story house in the northern province of Cao Bang collapsed on Sunday morning, killing three people and injuring three others.
The accident occurred at around 3 a.m. in the namesake town of the province when six members of Nguyen Huu Diem’s family were sleeping.
Diem, 72, his wife Nguyen Thi Hue, 72, and his daughter-in-law Hoang Thi Duyen, 38, died on the spot, according to the authorities.
Diem’s son, Nguyen Huu Duc, 41, and Duc’s two children, 16-year-old Nguyen Duc Anh and three-year-old Nguyen Hoang Anh, were pulled out from the rubble with severe injuries and rushed to the Cao Bang General Hospital.
The three are recovering, said the hospital director, Phuong Duc Cu.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
