A woman crashed her car into several motorbikes on a crowded street in Hanoi Monday morning, killing at least three people.
The accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. on Ai Mo Street in Long Bien District when the woman driving a Toyota Camry tried to avoid another car that was backing out of a house into the street.
But she hit the car, panicked and apparently mistook the gas pedal for the brake, witnesses said.
She crashed into three motorbikes and only stopped after crashing into a tree.
A man and a woman on motorbikes were killed instantly while a child died on the way to the hospital.
People at the site called 115 many times, but no ambulance arrived.
The badly injured child was sent to hospital in a truck by police officers some 45 minutes after the accident, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The police are investigating.
