3 dead, 1 seriously injured in southern Vietnam as car rams truck

Three people were killed and another seriously injured when a car crashed into a truck in the southern Vietnamese province of Binh Duong early Thursday.

The accident occurred at around 1 am when a Ford Escape traveling on National Highway 13 in Thuan An town crashed into the back of a truck traveling in front.

Vuong Hong Vinh, 28, the driver, and a couple in the back, 34-year-old man Le Phong Vu and 22-year-old Nguyen Thi Xuan, died on the spot.

Nguyen Thi Hong Phuong, a 20-year-old woman sitting beside the driver, was thrown out of the car and was seriously injured. She is being treated at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

The car was badly damaged but the truck and its driver escaped unharmed.

Preliminary investigations found that the car was speeding when it hit the truck.
