Three passengers were killed and 35 others injured after a bus carrying 45 Buddhist followers plunged off a cliff in central Vietnam earlyThursday.
The accident happened at around 4:15 a.m. when the bus plunged into a gorge in Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province.
The bus turned on its side, killing three passengers on the spot. One of them was Le Thi Minh, a 58-year-old woman, while the two others have not been identified.
As many as 35 people were injured.
According to the passengers, they were sleeping when the accident happened. It was dark and rainy at that time.
Local residents broke the windows of the bus to free those trapped inside and rush them to a local hospital.
The 45 Buddhists had set off from Hanoi, heading for Quang Tri Province to attend a requiem for war martyrs.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
