Rescuers in the southern province of Ca Mau Sunday recovered the bodies of three of five sailors trapped in a boat that sank early Saturday.

They said divers had encountered much difficulty since the area is deep and the water rough.

A fishing boat from nearby Kien Giang Province sank nearly 65 kilometers off the nearest land after hit by a large foreign cargo ship.

Nine crew members were saved by a fishing vessel, while the five were stuck in the cabin when the boat went down.

The Ca Mau Border Guard Command sent 20 soldiers on two rescue vessels, and also asked boats in the area to help with the rescue.
