A two-year-old boy was killed after a taxi hit him at a hospital in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on Tuesday, online newspaper VnExpress reported.
A Nhu Tien was playing with his mother on the grounds of the Kon Tum General Hospital when a taxi belonging to Toan Thinh Company knocked the boy over.
The taxi driver fled the scene as the boy lay bleeding.
Tien was rushed to the emergency room but died soon after due to severe head and abdominal injuries.
Tran Ai, the hospital's director, said the hospital bans taxis from entering the hospital to pick up passengers. However, in some cases when patients are unable to walk or are going into labor, the taxis are allowed to enter.
Local police are searching for the taxi driver.
