Ho Chi Minh City customs office said Wednesday they have found two kilograms of Pseudoephedrine, a raw material for manufacturing methamphetamine, hidden in an express parcel bound for Australia.
The substance was hidden carefully in four packs of palm sugar, the office said. The consigner of the parcel lives in Dong Nai Province.
The parcel, which also contained coconut candies and dried fish, was checked on Tuesday after customs officers found it to be suspicious.
The office has so far this year found about 74 kg of narcotic drugs hidden in such express parcels, including more than 69 kilos of materials and 4 kilos of heroin.
They were disguised as coffee, shrimp sauce, cake, tea and cosmetics.
