A 26-year-old Russian man drowned while he was swimming in the sea in Mui Ne Monday.

The accident happened when Andrey Dubiwin and his two friends, both Russian, were swimming in rough seas, the Binh Thuan Province government's news website quoted witnesses as saying.

Lifeguards at the Muine Bay Resort responded quickly to Dubiwin's friends' cries for help, and managed to bring him back to shore.

But despite rendering first aid, they could not save him.
