Police in Hanoi arrested 26 people for allegedly using and trading drugs at a local hotel Thursday.

Cau Giay District's police said 23 people, including 15 men, were found using drugs at the district's Kim Xuan hotel, where they also confiscated one packet of synthetic drugs and three guns.

Following information provided by the suspects, police arrested three others accused of selling drugs in Ha Dong District later that night, said Nguyen Thanh Tung, chief of the district's criminal police division.

Further investigations into the case are now underway.

In other news, police in the southern province of Ca Mau on Thursday said they had busted a ring trafficking the largest amount of synthetic drugs ever found in the province.

Police said they found Phan Tri Phuong, 25, carrying 21 packets allegedly containing synthetic drugs and seven ecstasy tablets on Wednesday.

Phuong told police that he got the drugs from Phan Quoc Phong, a security guard at a local bar, and planned to deliver them to a person named Hoang in the provincial capital of Ca Mau.

Police later took Phong into custody and confiscated seven packets allegedly containing drugs and 100 ecstasy tablets from his house.

According to Phong, he received the drugs from a person in Ho Chi Minh City and it was the second time he transported drugs to Ca Mau for sale.

He said he had previously received and sold 20 ecstasy tablets and 30 packets of synthetic drugs.

The two men are currently in custody for further investigations, police said.
