Customs in Hanoi Friday confiscated 203 undocumented air guns from the suitcases of nine Vietnamese on a flight from Moscow, an official said.
According to Dao Van Lien, chief of the Noi Bai Airport's Customs Department, the guns were found disassembled when the passengers' suitcases were being checked.
The passengers, who failed to present documents related to the guns, said they bought them at more than US$100 each in the Czech Republic before transferring in Russia and returning to Vietnam.
They said they bought the guns as souvenirs, or bought them for someone else without knowing that Vietnam strictly controls the guns which are usually used for hunting.
Lien said related agencies will either confiscate or order the passengers to re-export the guns.
