Two female toll collectors escaped death after a truck crashed into their toll booths on Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong Highway on Thursday.
At around 4:55 a.m. the 10-ton truck was traveling from the Mekong Delta province of Long An to HCMC when it suddenly plunged into a barrier at the Cho Dem Toll Station in HCMC’s Binh Chanh District.
The truck smashed into toll booth No. 7 and turned on its right side, and then flipped over onto booth No. 4.
Two women, aged 27 and 29, who were working inside the booths, managed to run. Both were slightly injured and rushed to hospital.
The driver of the truck, whose name has not been released, was also injured.
The booth No. 7 collapsed and debris fell onto a four-seater sedan.
Police arrived at the scene to regulate traffic. After nearly six hours, traffic returned to normal.
The toll collectors were discharged from hospital in the morning.
Police are still investigating the crash.
