Two traffic police officers died after their car crashed into a truck traveling in the opposite direction in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong on Thursday.
The accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. when Lieutenant Vu Truong Son and Lieutenant Dinh Quoc Phong were driving the car to a school in the neighboring province of Dak Lak.
Son died on the spot while Phong died on the way to a nearby hospital.
Nguyen Quoc Vuong, who witnessed the accident, said the car ran at high speed and collided head-on with the truck.
Residents said it was very foggy in the morning.
Investigations are underway.
Traffic crashes kill around 9,000 people in Vietnam every year, or almost 25 deaths per day, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang said last November.
