Two Russians facing criminal charges in their country and wanted by Interpol were arrested Wednesday in the central province of Quang Tri as they tried to cross the border into Laos.

Valery Polyakov, 39, and Alexei Kosenok, 36, were seized at immigration at the Lao Bao Border Gate after officers found them suspicious and contacted Interpol Vietnam to verify their identities.

They found out that the two are wanted by the Russian police on various charges, including trade and transport of weapons and explosives, kidnapping, extortion, and robbery.

They were handed over to officers from the Ministry of Public Security, and will soon be handed over to the Russian police.
