The Mui Ne police Wednesday arrested two men for allegedly stealing US$166 from a Chinese tourist.
Duong Van Tien and Huynh Van Phuc, both 22 and living on the streets, would be in custody for two months, police said.
A day earlier Liu Meng Ying, the Chinese tourist, had asked the pair to take photos of her and her friends on a beach.
Phuc promised to take care of her bag while Tien took them to the beach for the photos.
When they were away, Phuc stole a mobile phone, US$85, and 500 yuan ($81) from her bag and fled the scene.
Ying reported to the police who picked up the pair.
Tien only recently came out of jail after a four-year sentence for assault. Phuc, who has two convictions, too was in jail until late last year.
