2 killed, 6 injured in central Vietnam as truck plunges down hill

A truck-mounted crane lost control and plunged down a hillside in the central province of Quang Ngai Friday, killing two men and injuring six others in it.

The accident happened at around 7 p.m. when the truck working at the Dakring hydropower plant project was driving on Road 623 in Son Tay District.

The workers on board said a wheel suddenly exploded and the driver was unable to stop the vehicle in the dark and on a bumpy section, sending the vehicle plunging down a 30-meter slope.

The driver, Nguyen Trung Tuyen, 67, died on the spot while Bui Thanh Huy, 30, died on the way to the hospital

The six injured, Pham Minh Tung, Ha Trong Luong, Nguyen Dang Khanh, Vo Duy Men, Hoang Van Luan, and Do Truong Quang Quynh, are being treated at the Quang Ngai and Da Nang general hospitals.

Quynh and Luan were hitchhikers and the other six were workers at the Licogi 16 mechanical company and Someco construction company.
