2 injured during police chase in central Vietnam

Two men were injured after their motorbike collided with a traffic police car that was chasing them in the central province of Nghe An on Friday.

Tuoi Tre newspaper quoted witnesses as saying that the men rode a bike without license plates and they were not wearing helmets.

When they reached a wedding photo studio on the National Road 46 in Nam Dan District, the police car forced them to pull over.

The men fell off the bike and were hit by the car.

They were rushed to Nam Dan District General Hospital, where one of them was identified as Trinh Cong Tien, 23.

An unnamed source told Tuoi Tre that the men were attempting to flee from a police bust on a fight between two groups.

In other news, police in the southern province of Binh Phuoc announced on Friday that they were investigating a fatal accident related to a local traffic police officer, the newspaper reported.

Tran Van Long, an officer with the Bu Dop District traffic police division, was driving a car home after work on Thursday when he collided with Hoang Ngoc Long, who was riding a motorbike the opposite direction.

The head-on collision killed the man instantly, while his bike was crushed into pieces.

The officer was also slightly injured and his car was heavily damaged.
