2 dead, 12 injured in Vietnam bus collision

Two people were killed and 12 others injured in a road accident involving two buses in the south-central province of Phu Yen early Thursday.

 

At around 4 a.m. a 45-seat bus driven by Nguyen Van Canh, 38, heading for the north crashed head-on into another bus of the same kind.

 

The accident is believed to have happened when Canh drove the bus out of its lane in order to overtake a container truck.

 

Canh and one of his passengers a woman named Le Thi Loi, 42, died on the spot.

 

Twelve passengers on the bus were injured, three in critical condition.

 

The front portions of the two buses were badly damaged in the collision.

 

Further information about the accident has not been released. Police have said that investigations are ongoing.
