Vu Xuan Quang, 33, one of the two bus drivers arrested in Ha Tinh after almost running over two cops and imprisoning passengers in their bus for nearly an hour

Police in the central province of Ha Tinh Monday arrested two bus drivers for almost running over two officers who asked them to pull over for violating traffic laws and for holding 35 passengers captive to resist arrest.

Vu Xuan Quang, 33, and Le Si Tin, 32, were taken in after police broke into the bus following a one-hour standoff, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported Tuesday.

The bus was caught entering a restricted street in Ha Tinh town. Lieutenant Tran Xuan Ha, a traffic police officer, ordered it to pull over, but the driver instead tried to run over Ha, slightly injuring him, and fled the scene.

More officers were dispatched to stop the bus, which pulled over at an intersection after almost running over and injuring another cop.

Quang and Tin refused to leave the bus, and locked all the windows and doors, forcing the passengers to remain inside.

According to some reports, Quang had been driving initially before Tin took over.
