The damaged boat in Thanh Hoa Province that lost its roof after a gas blast that left four people missing Tuesday night
Rescuers in north central Vietnam have found the bodies of a father and son among four family members who went missing after an explosion rocked their fishing boat Tuesday night.
The body of Pham Van Ho and a body part of his 29-year-old son Pham Van Hoai, the boat's owner, were recovered on Wednesday afternoon, news website Dan Tri reported. Rescuers identified Hoai by his pants.
As the family sailed from Thanh Hoa Province toward neighboring Nghe An Province's Tinh Gia District at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, their boat's gas tank blew up, according to the accident's five survivors, ranging between 20 and 51 years old, who were sent to hospital with help from a nearby fishing boat.
Local authorities sent six fishing boats to search for the missing and have found body parts that have yet to be identified. The two other missing men are another son of Ho's, Pham Van Nho, 24, and his nephew Nguyen Van Trong, 39.
The damaged boat has been towed to shore, with its roof blown off and its engine no longer operational.
Police are investigating what caused the explosion.
